Cookie Policy
Last updated: 27 September 2026
01What this policy covers
This Cookie Policy explains how AutoMauve uses cookies and similar technologies such as local storage, session storage, pixels, SDKs, and analytics scripts on our website, web dashboard, and related browser-based services.
Cookies are small files placed on your device. Similar technologies can store or read information from your browser or device without creating a traditional cookie. Under UK rules, the same consent principles can apply to both.
02Technologies we use
Essential cookies and storage
These are needed for the site and product to work. They are always active and do not require optional consent.
- Authentication, session management, sign-in state, and account security.
- Cookie consent storage, including your essential, functional, analytics, and advertising choices.
- Security, fraud prevention, rate limiting, routing, and service reliability.
- Checkout or billing state needed to complete subscription and payment flows.
Functional cookies and storage
These remember choices you make and make the product easier to use. We only use optional functional storage where it is appropriate for the feature.
- Theme preference, dashboard layout state, menu state, scroll position, and user preference settings.
- Temporary workflow state such as onboarding progress, recent plan-change state, and form/session continuity.
- Browser local storage or session storage used by the web app to preserve a smoother experience.
Analytics and diagnostics
Analytics helps us understand how AutoMauve is used, find product issues, and improve the service. Analytics is not always anonymous: it may use pseudonymous IDs and product event metadata such as company ID, user ID, object IDs, plan type, page, browser, device, and event names.
- PostHog product analytics for selected website, dashboard, billing, onboarding, vehicle, defect, report, and user-management events.
- Exception and diagnostic capture for product reliability, with session recording disabled in the current web setup.
- Server-side operational telemetry for signed-in product actions. This does not depend on browser cookies, but it is explained in our Privacy Policy.
Advertising measurement
If you arrive from one of our Google ads, these tell us whether that ad led to a free-trial sign-up, so we can spend less on ads that do not help. They only load if you allow advertising cookies, and we do not use them to personalise ads.
- The Google tag (Google Ads), which may set cookies such as _gcl_au and _gcl_aw to record an ad click and a later trial sign-up.
- We turn off ad personalisation and Google Analytics storage in the tag.
03Third-party services
Some third-party services may set or use cookies and similar technologies when you interact with their part of the service. These include:
- PostHog: product analytics, event measurement, and diagnostics.
- Google Ads: advertising conversion measurement, only with your advertising consent.
- Stripe: checkout, billing, payment method, invoice, subscription, fraud-prevention, and payment security flows.
- AutoMauve Identity and NextAuth: authentication, sign-in sessions, callback handling, and account security.
- Microsoft Azure and hosting infrastructure: service delivery, routing, diagnostics, storage, and reliability.
04Managing preferences
You can accept all optional cookies, reject all optional cookies, or choose categories. Essential cookies remain active because the service cannot work securely without them.
Changing preferences may not remove cookies or storage already set by your browser. You can also clear cookies and site data through your browser settings. Rejecting optional storage may reduce convenience or limit analytics, but it should not block core product access.
05Retention
- Session cookies normally expire when your browser session or authentication session ends.
- The AutoMauve cookie-consent cookie is kept for up to 365 days so we can remember your choices.
- Functional local storage and session storage remain until cleared by the app, your browser, or you.
- Third-party cookies and analytics identifiers are retained according to the settings and policies of the relevant provider and our product configuration.
06Updates
We may update this Cookie Policy when our product, providers, analytics setup, or legal requirements change. If we materially change how optional cookies or similar technologies are used, we will ask for updated consent where required.
